湘南自然薯栽培その３

浜田牧場さんのモロコシ畑の野焼きを実施しました。2,000�uの畑の斜面の雑草を約3時間かけて焼き払いました。
Carried out open burning of the corn fields of Hamada deiry farm. Weeds on the slope of a 2,000 m2 field were burned down in about 3 hours.

第二圃場の自然薯の収穫を行いました。特別に大きな薯が掘れました。２ｋｇ以上の自然薯です。鯛みたいな形をしています。
Harvested the Japanese yams in the second field. A specially large yam was dug out,of  2 kg or more in weight. It is shaped like a sea bream.

予報通り午後から雪が降り始めました。今年最初の雪です。二階の自室の窓から撮った隣家の雪風景です。
As expected, it began to snow in the afternoon. This is the first snow of the year. It is a snow scene of the next house taken from the window of my room on the second floor.

近くのブルベリー農園で無線操縦式草刈機を使って草刈を行っているのを見学しました。クボタの草刈機で約百万円するそうです。約1,000�uの畑の草刈りを1日で完了するそうです。私が欲しいのは完全自走式式20万円ほどの草刈機です。
Saw a radio-controlled mower at a nearby blueberry plantation . Heard  that Kubota's mower costs about one million yen and the mowing of a field of about 1,000 m2 can be completed in one day. What I want is a fully self-propelled mower with the price of about 200,000 yen.

今年から自然薯の栽培を始めたTさんが試し掘りした自然薯を数本見せてくれました。6oogの薯があり喜んでいました。今年は春から種イモの仕込み、パイプ埋めや定植と追肥などを指導してきました。
Mr. T, who started cultivating Japanese yams from this year, showed me some of the yams that he tried and dug. He was delighted to get the 6oog yam. Since spring this year, I have been instructing seed yam preparation, pipe filling, planting and topdressing.
