湘南自然薯栽培その３

ちょうど一か月前に定植したジャガイモの約7割が芽を出しました。今後の成長が楽しみです。
About 70% of the potatoes planted just one month ago have sprouted. Looking forward to watching them grow.
 

昨日に北茨城から今年の自然薯の種薯が届きました。本日から種薯のカット、日干し、消毒、切り口への消石灰を塗しと日干しをします。乾いてから育苗箱に川砂を入れて種薯を埋めて行きます。最後の約150個分の種薯は川砂に稲殻を混ぜてみました。こうすることにより保温と水捌けの向上が期待できるそうです。
Yesterday, this year's Japanese yam seeds arrived from Kitaibaraki. Starting today, cut the seeds, dry them in the sun, disinfect them, apply hydrated lime to the cut ends, and dry them in the sun. Once dry, fill seedling boxes with river sand and bury the seeds. For the last 150 or so seeds, mixed rice husks into the river sand. This is expected to improve insulation and drainage.

一昨年12月に生まれた孫を連れて次男一家が2泊三日で上京してきました。
一日目は我が家に泊まり二日目に彼らだけで熱海に旅をして三日目に箱根の宿で合流しました。孫はまだ粥が中心の食事ですが、大浴場や家族風呂そして大食堂で楽しんで頂きました。順調に成長してくれることを祈ります。
My second son and his family came to Tokyo for a three-day, two-night trip with their grandson, who was born in December of last year.
The first day they stayed at my house, the second day they went on a trip to Atami by themselves, and the third day they met up with us at a hotel in Hakone. My grandson still mostly eats rice porridge, but he enjoyed the large communal bath, the family bath, and the large dining room. I hope he grows up healthy.

サツマイモの苗床を作りました。そして、安納芋、鳴門金時と紅イモの種芋を埋め込みました。今年はたくさんの蔓が伸びて欲しいです。もう1セットはサンルーム内に段ボール箱に培養土を入れてその中に種芋を埋めて上部に稲藁を被せて育苗します。これも実験です。
Made seedbed for sweet potatoes. Planted seed potatoes of Annouimo, Narutokintoki and Beniimo. Hope to grow many vines this year. For the other set, Filled a cardboard box with potting soil in the sunroom, buried the seed potatoes in it, and covered the top with rice straw to grow the seedlings. This is also an experiment.

ﾂﾏｲﾓ種芋の保存に初めて成功しました。私の居室に段ボール箱に稲わらに包んだｻﾂﾏｲﾓと段ボール箱に稲殻に包んだｻﾂﾏｲﾓがそれぞれ約8割の芋がきれいに保存できました。一方、ｻﾝﾙｰﾑ内で同様な形式で夜間は電気ストーブ600wで暖気した物はほとんど駄目でした。乾燥しすぎたようです。
Have suvecceded in preserving sweet potato seed potatoes for the first time. Placed sweet potatoes wrapped in rice straw in a cardboard box in my room, and wrapped them in rice husks in a cardboard box, and about 80% of the potatoes were preserved perfectly. On the other hand, the same method was used in the sun room, but the potatoes were barely preserved while heated at night with a 600W electric heater. They seemed to have dried out too much.
