Mowing the grass along the edges of the rice paddies
As the weather finally started to clear in October, immediately started mowing the banks of Mr. Hamada's 2,000u rice fields in the Sanada area. Approximately 10 rice plants in the two corners had disappeared. It seems to have been attacked by jumbo snail. There were multiple jumbo snails lying around.

In the fourth field, where the sweet potato vines had grown over a meter long due to the prolonged rains in September, I turned the vines over.

This is Mr. Hamada’s sweet potato field after the weeds—which had completely covered it during the long spell of rain in September—were cleared away. The sweet potato vines and leaves are finally visible; I look forward to seeing how they grow from here on.

Corn harvesting and ensiling
Due to persistent rain starting in the latter half of August, this year’s corn harvest and ensiling process were delayed by about two weeks. With further rain in September, the work was not completed until September 18th. Initially, the intake mechanism of the harvester became overloaded, causing the safety shear pins to break. However, by pre-clearing surrounding weeds and operating the harvester at a slower speed—along with other adjustments—we were able to prevent the shear pins from breaking during the remainder of the operation.
