湘南自然薯栽培その３

3/9に苗床を作成したサツマイモの種イモの芽が５０日かけてやっと出てきました。鳴門金時や紫芋は芽出しが早いようです。今後、紅あずま、栗まさりそしてシルクスイートも芽が出る筈です。今年は多くの種類のサツマイモを沢山植えられる予定です。
It took 50 days for the sweet potato seed tubers—placed in a nursery bed on March 9—to finally sprout. Varieties like Naruto Kintoki and purple sweet potatoes seem to sprout earlier than others; Beniazuma, Kurimasari, and Silk Sweet varieties should be sprouting soon as well. Plan to plant a wide variety of sweet potatoes in large quantities this year.

都内から息子が手伝いに来てくれました。おかげで。３日間で第一圃場の15畦の畔シート埋めを完了することができました。息子に感謝です。
My son came all the way from Tokyo to help me. Thanks to him, we were able to finish burying the 15 ridges of the first field with levees in three days. I'm so grateful to my son.

4/17から第二圃場始めた畔シート埋めですが、やっと１６畦分の作業が完了しました。１畦あたり約1.5時間要します。まずはホッとしました。
Started burying the ridge sheets in the second field on April 17th, and finally finished the work for 16 rows. It takes about 1.5 hours per row. Relieved for now.

先のインドネシアのご夫婦に筍掘りを体験して頂きました。掘ってからすぐに釜茹でして生の刺身の筍を召し上がって頂きました。インドネシアでも筍を食べたり、竹を使ったドームなどもありますが、この日はタケノコご飯他いくつかの和食料理を召し上がって頂きました。
The Indonesian couple mentioned earlier had the opportunity to experience digging for bamboo shoots. Immediately after digging them up, they were boiled and served as raw sashimi. In Indonesia, people do eat bamboo shoots and there are even bamboo domes, but on this day, they enjoyed bamboo shoot rice and several other Japanese dishes.

浜田牧場さんの竹林の筍がピークを迎えています。この日は最大の２５本を掘り上げました。
浜田さんが乳牛の世話で忙しいので、代わりに掘ってあげています。
The bamboo shoots in Hamada Farm's bamboo grove are at their peak. On this day, Dug up the largest harvest of 25 bamboo shoots.
Mr. Hamada is busy taking care of his dairy cows, so I'm digging them up for him.
