Azure Skies

Hello Everyone!

There is a very nice sunset right now (about 7 p.m.) and I hope some of you can take a moment to enjoy it. I took a few pictures and I apologize for the quality. I wish my cell phone camera was a bit better.

Anyway there is beautiful azure, pink, orange and many other colours visible in the sky. The clouds and sun are in a perfect position to reflect the light over the horizon and give us a spectacular if only brief view.

If you are reading this now and have a minute then get outside and have a look for yourself! Thanks and hope you enjoy the pictures and the sunset.

The Morning After the Storm

Good morning! It’s time for another blog.

I was attempting to post an entry last night, but the power went out while I was typing. I lost all my progress because of this and just decided to go to bed.

There was a typhoon that blew through the area and left quite a mess. My balcony looks terrible and needs cleaning up. There are a lot of dead insects as well all over the balcony floor. I hope everyone was ok last night! Here is a picture of the storm (from NASA) as it moves close to Okinawa. It’s much bigger than I thought!

In spite of the storm we had Funglish class before the worst of it came. It was very enjoyable and the students were celebrating birthdays. I think everyone had fun and I hope they could return home comfortably afterwards. Thanks to the students for braving the storm yesterday!

Now it’s time to clean up and go to work, and I need one more coffee. I hope you all have a great day today, thanks for reading.

Good Morning!

Good morning.

I usually write in the evening, but have decided to do a morning blog today. It’s a warm Monday morning and that means it’s time to get ready for work. Drink your coffee, eat your breakfast, brush your teeth, and rush out the door!

It looks like it will be a nice day out today. Yesterday was pretty hot and humid, and I had to break out the fans in my home for the first time this year. I guess that means it’s officially summer now. I hope to have a very active and productive summer this year. Do you look forward to the summer? What kind of activities do you like to do? Is there an outdoor festival in your area?

Thanks for reading, it’s off to work now!

Weekend in the Rain

Hello and happy weekend!

I apologize for not blogging for a few days, things have been busy. This Friday I actually had a day off, but I will be moving at the end of the month. So I had a chance to do some more organizing and cleaning. We took a quick lunch break at Sushi-Ro! That is my clumsy finger in the bottom of the photo… oops.

Saturday morning we had to greet our new neighbours and give them a small gift. About half of them weren’t home so we’ll have to try again tomorrow. This was a new experience for me as this custom isn’t practiced in Canada. It is much more casual there, and usually you just exchange greetings and small talk when you happen to see one of the new neighbours.

Then in the late afternoon we went to Shimachu in Chigasaki. We’re still looking for some furniture as the apartment is pretty bare right now. The traffic around there was crazy. There is a tight 3-way intersection right beside the store that is also crazy and there were so many people waiting there. I wasn’t sure how the system at the intersection works because there are no signs and its right beside the train tracks. Most people were gracious and taking turns to go through, but no one really seemed to be 100% sure. Anyway, the store was good and there are many interesting designs inside. I like it and recommend it.

Tomorrow I will return to Bois Colombes for some adult classes, and then I need to finish greeting the neighbours that we missed today. I hope it isn’t raining again!

I wish you all a great weekend and sunny weather. Thanks for reading!

Beach Walker

Good evening, how was your weekend?

Today it was sunny and hot during the morning, and then it cooled down nicely during the early evening. I should be able to sleep comfortably tonight.

I taught some classes at Bois Colombes this afternoon and afterwards there was an incident. A giant hornet (Oo-suzumebachi) had flown into the entrance to the building and was sitting on window by the front door. It was about 5 cm long. Nobody (including me) wanted to pass by the beast so we waited outside and chatted for a while. Finally it decided to fly out of the front door much to our relief.

When I returned home there was still a few hours of sunlight left so I decided to take my youngest son for a walk. We went down to the beach and had a nice stroll along the shore. I like the gentle ocean breeze and the sound of waves breaking on the shore. It’s very relaxing and good for the mind. There were also many pink flowers growing along the upper banks. I’m not sure what they are but they add very nicely to the scenery.

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a great week!
